JÓZSEFVÁROS

This  is Pest's oldest and fastest developing district, which has three parts. First is, the area north of the ringroad is mainly inhabited by poorer people. Here you can find many run down buildings, but recently it has begun developing very quickly, because of the Corvin city rehabilitation project. In the framework of the project many building has been demolished and replaced by a shopping mall, office buildings, residential buildings and a brand new parked pedestrian street.

The other part is south of the korut has similiar elegant atmosphere to the 5.th district.

Main Attractions:

1. Hungarian National Museum, The first museum in Hungary, it holds  more than 1000 years old coronation robes. It presents the historical periods on a constant display exhibition from the state foundation  until the 1990s. 

2. Elte botanical gardens,The foundation dates back to the 18th century. It has been established mainly for medical purposes.

3. Hungarian Natural History Museum 3rd oldest museum of its kind in Europe. It holds more than 10 million pieces in the collection. It represents Carpathians basin in aan interactive way. 

5. Fõvárosi Szabó Ervin Library, it celebrated its 100th birthday in 2004.
